We share our top tips on what to ask when interviewing your property buyer’s agent!

– Google them, if they have an excellent reputation, you will find out pretty quickly with a simple Google Search. Interview them before you even pick up the phone or enquire online.

- Ask about their experience & learn how long have you been in the industry as a Buyers Agent.

– Ask if they are willing to share some clients details?

– Do they have a strong local knowledge of the area they’ll be searching in for you?

– Do they own property themselves? If so, how has it performed?

– Ask to see a list of properties they have purchased for their previous buyer agent clients.

– Ask them about their fee structure. The old saying “Pay peanuts and you get monkey’s rings true here” As a general guide buyer’s agents full-service fees work out to typically be 1.5-2% + GST of the purchase price. It’s similar to what selling agents charge for selling a property. However, many buyer’s agents will negotiate a set or fixed fee in advance depending on price brackets, degree of difficulty and other search criteria. Top Performing Buyer Agents will offer you a written money-back guarantee on their service.

– Ask them if they have professional indemnity & public liability insurance.

– Ask them if they are members of a governing body like https://rebaa.com.au/buyers-agents/ or the https://reiv.com.au/

– Ask them if they have a Code of Ethics & Best Practice they follow.

– Social Media – Many Buyer Agents & Buyer Advocates will have a profile online; you can potentially see if they are a good fit for you, just by reviewing what they post on social media.

- If you are a first home buyer, this page will help you – https://www.industryinsider.com.au/first-home-buyers/

We hope this helps you cut through all of the information out there, and we wish you all the best on your property journey.
